Ice Dam Example
Transcription: This is Jeff Petrucci with Bloomfield Construction. I’m out here at a house in Waterford and they have water coming to the kitchen cabinets in this corner, inside here. As you can see we have a tremendous amount of ice damming built up and it’s weird because we’ve got intake venting at the edge that was put on when this roof was done. Right up here. And we’ve got continuous ridge vent. We’ve got baffles, this is a cathedral ceiling in this section, and it’s vented all the way through. What we also have is the sun that melts the snow off and this tree is blocking the bottom part of the roof. So as that warmth melts the snow at the top, it gets to the bottom and there is not stopping it from forming ice. As you can see it just kept backing up. It’s probably 8 inches thick right there, maybe 10. It’s going all the way up the roof and now we’ve got water in the house. We got to get out here and remove this house dam and stop this ice dam.
