Removing a large ice dam
Video Transcription: This is Jeff from Bloomfield Construction here. Here we are out in Bloomfield Township. We’re trying to get this ice damn off this roof. Temperatures are above freezing but you can see the water dripping off into this gutter. And the homeowner’s been up here trying to get this big block of ice off this valley. You can see this is snow that’s melting beneath this part here is all wet and it comes off pretty easy. It’s kind of in layers, kind of a glacier it’s just going to take some time to chop it off. The snow that’s melting off above is constantly hitting that ice dam back in here and it’s running up under the shingles down into the house. You can see right here on the gutter how there’s water running. This is kind of a rudimentary ice dam situation where as soon as this ice block is off here the water is going to stop coming into the house. He’s done a nice job of removing the large clumps at the edge here off of this later and he’s going to continue to do it. And the problem will be solved.
